The mission of PsyGenics is to improve the health and wellness of our community by delivering quality services to individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental illness. We are a premier provider for Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) and Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH). We have 3 locations in Wayne County – Detroit, Dearborn, and Trenton and a location in Macomb County – Roseville.

PsyGenics offers case management, psychological and psychiatric care, mental health counseling, peer mentoring, nursing services, occupational therapy, speech therapy and, individual and family therapy. We also coordinate and assist with obtaining supported housing, skill building, respite services, community living supports as well as guardianship and power of attorney. We provide an integrated continuum of holistic care designed to meet each members changing needs and maximize their independence, self-responsibility and community engagement. Through our dedicated team members, supporters and community network, we offer an environment that nurtures members’ behavioral, physical, economic, social, and spiritual well-being.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

The goal of the PsyGenics Internship Program is to train its interns to become competent, ethical, and confident behavioral health professionals. We provide experience and supervision that allow interns to thrive not only in today’s world, but to gain the knowledge and tools that empower them to adapt to an ever-changing behavioral health industry. The Internship Program is a fundamental part of our community of learning and quality improvement. PsyGenics Internship Program seeks to create opportunity by connecting education, real life employment, and competitive compensation in ways that positively impact the intern, our organization, and the communities we service.

Interns will have the opportunity to acquire experience across diverse populations (including those diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Serious Mental Illness), various programs (such as our Behavioral Health Home, Outreach, and Outpatient services), a wide range of age groups (adults, adolescents, children, and families), and diverse team members (including psychiatry, nursing, and more).
